The Fjord Defence Lightweight Tripod is designed to provide a stable and portable platform for accurate firing of heavy machine guns and automatic grenade launchers from ground positions. Built to meet the demands of low weight combined with high durability, the system utilizes a hybrid fiberglass and carbon construction, resulting in a total weight of less than 7 kg.
The tripod features an adjustable front leg and telescopic rear legs, allowing flexible height adjustment and adaptation to varied terrain. Its lightweight design enables rapid deployment, as well as quick setup and packing, while maintaining robustness in demanding environments, including saltwater conditions.
The system is equipped with a NATO STANREC 4796 pintle interface, ensuring compatibility with Fjord Defence MMG, HMG, and AGL mounts, as well as legacy equipment. By adapting the appropriate mount, the tripod supports a wide range of weapon systems, including 12.7 mm heavy machine guns and 40 mm automatic grenade launchers.
The tripod can be configured with an optional Traverse & Elevation (T&E) mechanism, enabling precise control and accurate engagement at extended ranges.
